BSc (Hons) Humanistic Counselling. MBACP
Something's not right. Maybe you can't say exactly what it is. Maybe it's showing up at home, or at work, or just in the way you feel when you stop long enough to notice.Or maybe it's something quieter. A sense that somewhere along the way, certain parts of yourself stopped being allowed. And it's been that way for so long, you're not sure what's there anymore.I work with men who are ready to talk about it.I'm Roy. I'm a Humanistic Counsellor based in Brighton & Hove, working in person and online.

Counselling
I have a particular interest in working with men. We grow up learning which parts of ourselves are acceptable and which parts need to stay hidden. Over time, that editing becomes so habitual that it's hard to know what's actually you and what isn't.You might recognise something in this. Sometimes it shows up as distance in relationships. Sometimes as saying what's expected rather than what's true. Sometimes as a restlessness or an anger without a clear source. Sometimes just a feeling that something isn't quite right, without being able to say what.I work with men who are beginning to notice this and who are curious about what might be possible if they had a space where none of that editing was required.I welcome clients of all backgrounds and identities. While much of my work is with men, if what I've described resonates with you, please do get in touch.I am a Humanistic Counsellor working in Brighton and Hove, and online. I am a Registered Member of the BACP and work in accordance with their ethical framework. My approach draws on Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt, and Transactional Analysis, tailored to you rather than to a formula.
About Me
Hi, I'm Roy. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling (First Class) from the Metanoia Institute in London, where my training included online and phone therapy.I came to counselling through my own life, having grown up in environments that shaped, in ways I only came to understand much later, which parts of me were allowed to exist and which parts needed to stay hidden. That experience is at the heart of how I work.I bring warmth, honesty and genuine curiosity to my work. I believe the therapeutic relationship itself, when it's genuine and without judgment, is where change becomes possible. Not through technique or formula, but through real human contact.I work mostly with men, though I welcome anyone who feels my approach might be right for them."The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."
— Carl Rogers
